Claes Classon Uggla

52   Claes Claesson Uggla (1582–1623) was like so many noble men a soldier. His coat of arms on the island is from 1605 or 1607.; no numbers appear but the letter C is clear. In 1605 his king was going to war against the Polish, and the troops were waiting for favourable winds. Uggla made his career in the navy and at many coastal fortresses. In 1620 he escorted King Gustaf II Adolf´s bride Maria Eleonora from Germany to Sweden. Claes Uggla is buried in the medieval Pojo Church.
