69 Erengisle (Ernst) Larsson Creutz (d. 1635) visited the island in 1622 as lieutenant-colonel on his way to the second Polish War (1600–1629). In 1631 he became governor of the counties of Norrland, which covered lands on both sides of the Gulf of Bothnia (Västerbotten and Österbotten). Together with his wife he founded the estate Malmgård in Pernå (Pernaja), still a Creutz family residence.
